Most bookmakers are run by good honest people who you can trust. However, some of them are not trustworthy, and it is my job to help my website visitors avoid these bookies and use only those that give you a) choice and b) peace of mind. I insist on a range of bookies for practical reasons - here they are: 1. Paddy Power: The reason I trust Paddy is that so many Irish people trust Paddy Power - and the Irish are renowned for paying for everything in cash. For them to go online, this is a sure sign of trust. You get every market you'll ever need on PP, and pay-out is rapid. 2. Betfair: The Maltese-based bookie has become an internet phenomenon with a host of free bet promotions that have boosted their ranks. It's not so complicated - in effect you become the bookie if you want - you can back or lay on almost any event, and the odds are often better than at a traditional bookie. It's professional, and you are guaranteed technical and gaming support. Your money is 100% safe with Betfair. 3. William Hill: A solid background in horses makes William Hill the number one pick for horse racing fans. While a lot of online gamblers prefer betting on the football, the horse racing afficionados will go to willhill. The site is actually rather sparse compared to the likes of PP and Betfair, but it works and once more - they are a high street name that you can trust. 4. Jaxx: Jaxx is a strange one - no high-street presence but they do have the backing of two Premiership football clubs and a website that is so good it's almost space-age. They have a 25 free bet offer on at the moment, and their speciality is football: if you want to bet on the Hungarian Second Division, you can - it's your choice. I've tried them, and I agree with what most people say - your money is safe and Jaxx is a very professional online bookie. 5. Totesport: I like Totesport very much, despite the fact that you don't have the chance to buy the odds when you place the bet. You get the odds as the event starts (or they are chosen afterwards) which means that sometimes, your winnings are not as high as you would have got with other bookies. But... Totesport is stable - it's reliable - and once more, it's very safe. The website is excellent - the Tote got a re-branding and they are at every racecourse as the bookie you can trust. So there you go - 5 bookmakers you can try out without risk. I say that you should avoid online bookmakers whose sites look like they were thrown together in ten minutes. Look around and you'll find them. If they don't have a range of markets, it means that they don't have enough people working for them, researching the markets. And that's bad. Stick to the big names and you won't go wrong.
