Simple Dog Obedience Training Tips

It is but common to see people having pet dogs at their homes. After all, dogs are considered a man's best friend. And oftentimes, dog owners really spend a lot of time training their dogs some helpful tricks. Since most of these tricks are relatively easy to learn, and not to mention dogs are highly intelligent, dog owners can somehow train their dogs effectively as long as they know the proper dog obedience training tips. Therefore, whether you are already experienced in dog handling, or still beginning to learn more about it, there are some basic tips that are very helpful.

Potty training is one of the most critical dog trainings. One practical tip is to purchase a bell, attach a tie on it and then hang it on your doorknob. Before taking your dogs outside, have him ring the bell and ask ?Gotta go potty? Gotty go outside?? When you do this often, your dog will understand that once they ring the bell, it means that they need to go out. But be careful when doing this as there may be instances when your dog would just ring the bell to go outside but does not do potty at all. Be sure to accompany them outside for the first few times and repeat telling them to ?go potty? and when they do, be sure to praise them.

In dog obedience trainings, treats are very important. Prepare some treats when you do dog trainings as this will serve as the rewards for your dogs. When teaching them how to 'sit', start by standing in front of your dog and be sure he is attentively facing at you as well. Say 'sit' and then firmly push him down until he is already seated. Reward him the moment he does the command properly. If you wish to teach them how to lay down, make your pet dogs sit before gently pushing their legs apart until they are already lying down. When you do this, make sure you say 'lie down' so he will be familiar with the command. Do this method until your dogs can finally follow the command without you guiding them. As always, have your treats handy. 'Shake' is also another training dog owners want to teach their dogs. To start, let your dogs sit down and then grab their paw gently as you simultaneously say 'shake'. Continue doing this until your dogs are already familiar with the command. And always do not forget to give them treats when they perform commands correctly.

Another trick, although more advanced, is ?bye-bye?. To do this, your dog should already know how to shake. Start by having your dog in a sitting position and then say ?shake? but this time, do not shake them. Instead, take their paws and wave them up and down twice and then say ?bye-bye?. Treat them with food and then praise them before repeating the trick. After a few tries, start leaving out the ?shake? and do the action with your own hand by going up and down and then saying ?bye-bye?.
